If you are a prospective or registered student for the Navico ECDIS Type Specific Training Course, then please read the following instructions carefully.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS AND TEST TAKERS

1. COURSE MATERIALS AND STUDY INFORMATION:

1. Course materials may be downloaded at any time, as per your convenience from the right-hand-side of this page.

2. Please make sure to install all study materials on your computer for exam preparation.

3. This is a self-study course. It is the student’s responsibility to go through the course materials and prepare before signing up for the examination.

4. Should you have any questions during the self-study period, you have the following options:

   • Option One: Post a question – All posted questions will be answered - within 24 hours by one of our instructors and/or examiners.
   • Option Two: Request for an interactive session, compromising of a “chat” with one of our instructors and ask them your questions directly. This facility is available FOC to all prospective candidates and registered students.

5. Once you feel that you are prepared to sit for the examination, please refer to the following sections for more information.

2. REGISTRATION FOR EXAMINATION:

Once you are ready to take the exam, you must have yourself registered.

Please upload the following documents online in order to complete the registration process and schedule an examination time with one of our instructors.

2.1 DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

• Active Passport
• Passport size photograph
• Sea-fearers’ Book
• Generic ECDIS Certificate (confirming that you have completed the course and passed or cleared the exam.)
• If you do not have a Valid certificate confirming your Generic ECDIS training and certification, please visit IMO Generic 1.27.

2.2 VERIFICATION AND TRAINING FEES:

1. At the time of Registration, you will be required to enter the name of the company who will be sponsoring you for this exam.

2. Once you have filled in the form and uploaded all your documents, a verification process will be conducted by us.

3. Your sponsoring company is then required to arrange the payment of Training Fees which is USD 225. The same is to be credited to the following bank account. Our Training Centre will get in touch with your sponsoring company for the payment confirmation.

4. After your company has arranged for complete payment of examination fees, you will receive a confirmation email from us confirming your acceptance and eligibility for taking the examination.

5. Your email confirmation will contain an Username and Password that you will be required to use to gain access to our portal.

3. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING EXAMINATION:

1. The Navico ECDIS online certification is a two-step process:

   • Take a multiple-choice Online Exam (passing grade 70%).
   • Take a Live-Cam Interview (passing grade 70%).
   • Scores for both are out of 100%
   • Please note that one score does not affect the other and you need to pass in both to qualify as being eligible for the certification

2. From the time of allotment of your Username and Password, you are given a maximum time period of 4 weeks to schedule your online test.

   • Should you be giving a re-examination, you will to re-schedule in one week from the date of failing it the first time.

   • There is no limit to the number of attempts you are granted to attempt the re-examination.

In the unlikely event of non-appearing for this exam within the maximum four weeks period, your fees will be forfeited and you will have to re-register.

4. TESTING PROCEDURE AND CERTIFICATION

1. The Online Exam is a 45 minutes test, of 25 questions (each of four marks) with multiple-choice answers based on the course materials provided earlier and you will need a secure internet connection to your laptop / computer during this process.

2. After taking the Online Exam and passing at or above a 70% score, you can then book a day and time slot in the schedule to appear for a Live-Cam Interview, with one of our Training Instructors. Please feel free to email us with questions and availability options.

   Time slots are IST (Indian Standard Time), so if you are from overseas, then please factor in the applicable time difference accordingly.

3. The Live-Cam Interview is a 30 minutes session and our instructor/examiner will ask you questions to test your knowledge and abilities on the Navico ECDIS.

4. If you pass the Live-Cam Interview, your examination results will be sent directly to Navico for issuing a certificate. Congratulations! This means you have passed!

   If you fail, please re-start the process again. There are no re-evaluations for this test.

5. Your final certificate will be issued directly from Navico.

6. You must download the certificate from our website using the same username/password one week from taking the test and passing.
