Moloobhoys are the first in the world to set up a Position Reference Sensor course, recognized by The Nautical Institute, London.
The course is offered in collaboration with the OEM - Guidance Marine, UK.
The actual equipment - Artemis MK5 & MK6 has been installed at our Institute allowing the students; hands-on practical training.
The Artemis system is a microwave position reference sensor for use in long range marine Dynamic Positioning (DP) applications. Artemis accurately measures the range and bearing of a mobile asset relative to a fixed position. The position is determined by measuring the absolute distance and the relative angle between two Artemis stations.
The faculty is highly experienced having over 30 years of exposure in the field of Dynamic Positioning.
Brief Profile of Dr. Surendra Kumar - Instructor for this course.
Dr. Kumar, an electrical engineer of the Indian Navy, earned his Phd. from UPES with his thesis on “Effectiveness of Seafarer’s training using Maritime Simulators”. He is a Chartered Marine Engineer- UK (CMarEng) ; Chartered Marine Technologist UK ( CMarTech), a qualified Lead Auditor and a fellow of the Nautical Institute, U.K.
He was the principal of “Bibby Training Institute” until recently and leading a team of experienced maritime trainers, which brought to India, world class maritime and offshore training attracting both Indian and international students. He is also an approved trainer for the MCA courses on High Voltage, HELM, etc.
As an approved DP trainer from the Nautical Institute, London, Dr. Kumar has been teaching various DP courses for over two decades at Mumbai, Delhi, Dubai & Cape Town.
